Test RAP piling at Te Manawataki o Te Papa on the Library site near Wharf St is programmed to commence on Friday 15 December and is expected to be complete prior to Christmas.
RAP piling is the process of installing aggregate into the ground to increase the bearing capacity of soils so it can eventually support the foundations of the building. The test piling activity is required to verify the design ahead of the main RAP piling works commencing in early 2024.
Neighbours may experience some noise and vibration during this activity. These vibrations levels are significantly lower than anything that could cause structural damage. People can feel even very small vibrations and may feel disturbed by the vibrations. In general, the further away the work is, the lower the vibration levels being felt.
Works will be undertaken during the hours of 7.30am to 6.00pm.
We are very aware that the construction of the project will have an impact on our neighbours, and we are very appreciative of your tolerance.
